Dr Jeffrey M Kestenberg - General Dentist

Dr Jeffrey Kestenberg graduated from the University of Melbourne in 1980 and completed his Masters Degree in prosthodontics in 1982. In 1983 he was awarded a fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons.

He has a keen interest in microdentistry, minimally invasive dentistry and laser dentistry and in recognition of his efforts was awarded a Fellowship of the World Congress of Minimally Invasive Dentistry. He also has an interest in the dental treatment of snoring and obstructive sleep apnoea.

Jeff has been at Coburg Dental Group since 1981 and is a consultant in Prosthodontics at Monash Medical Centre where he treats cancer patients after mouth surgery to reconstruct their teeth.

He has also lectured locally, interstate and overseas to undergraduate and graduate dentists on laser dentistry, prosthodontics and obstructive sleep apneoa.


Dr Meredith C Metin -
General Dentist

Dr Meredith Metin graduated from The University of Melbourne with a Bachelor of Dental Science in 1996. She began her career at Monash Medical Centre as the Dental Resident in 1997. There she treated medically compromised and trauma patients. It was there where she met Dr Jeffery Kestenberg, and she came to work with him at Coburg Dental Group in 1998. 

Meredith has always been an active member of the Australia Dental Association (ADA) and was a member of the Dental Health Education Committee and Fluoridation Committee between 1999 and 2005. She was the Chairman of the Dental Health Education Committee of the ADA between 2003 and 2005. Meredith's areas of interest are Preventive and Restorative Dentistry. She is married with two sons.


Dr Shannon Gune -
General Dentist

Dr Shannon Gune has a Bachelors degree in Dental Surgery from the university of Melbourne (1997) and a postgraduate Diploma in clinical dentistry majoring in Endodontics (root canal treatment) and crown, bridge and dental implant Prosthodontics.

He had oral surgery training in Nottingham, England (1999) and his biggest passion is dental implant surgery.


Dr Peter Apostolopoulos -
General Dentist

Dr Peter Apostolopoulos graduated from the University of Melbourne with a Bachelor of Dental Science in 2004. He spent the next four years in Queensland working as a Dental Officer in the Australian Defence Force; firstly with the Australian Regular Army in Brisbane and Townsville, and then the Royal Australian Air Force in Ipswich.

Peter returned to Melbourne in 2009 to study a Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Dentistry (focusing on Dental Implants), and currently works Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday at Coburg Dental Group, maintaining an interest in all aspects of general practice dentistry.


Dr Kenny Chong -
General Dentist

Dr Kenny Chong graduated from The University of Otago (NZ) with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery in 2001. He began his career at the Maxillofacial Department, Waikato Hospital, New Zealand as the Dental Registrar in 2002. There he treated medically compromised and trauma patients. In 2003 Dr Chong moved over to Melbourne, Australia where he worked at multiple practices both in the private and public sector.

He then decided further his studies at University of Melbourne where he gained a Graduate Diploma in Clinical Dentistry in 2005. 

Currently Dr Chong is in his final year of a Doctorate of Clinical Dentistry program specialising in Fixed Prosthodontics.He recently joined Coburg Dental Group in January 2009. He is an active member of the Australia Dental Association (ADA) and Academy of Prosthodontists.


Dr Oliver Pope -
General Dentist

Dr Oliver Pope graduated from the University of Queensland and was awarded a Bachelor of Dental Science with Honours in 2006. He then worked for 3 years in Sydney as a Dental Officer in the Royal Australian Navy.

After multiple deployments with the Navy and several years of general dental practice, he left the Navy to pursue a specialty in endodontics (root canal treatment). Dr Pope is currently undertaking a postgraduate Doctorate in Clinical Dentistry in Endodontics at the University of Melbourne. As such, he has a particular interest in maintaining up-to-date with the latest technology and techniques in endodontics to provide high-quality care for his patients.

Dr Pope is a member of the Australian Dental Association and the Australian Society of Endodontology.

 


Dr Adrian De Angelis -
General Dentist

Dr Adrian DeAngelis joined Coburg Dental Group at the start of 2010. Previously he graduated from the University of Melbourne in 2005 with a Bachelor's degree in Dental Science with honours and in 2006 he held the position of Dental Registrar at the Alfred Hospital,  primarily treating haemophiliac, transplant and medically compromised patients. In 2007 he worked in private practice before moving to Hobart in 2008 to take up a post as Maxillofacial Registrar at the Royal Hobart Hospital.

He has since continued in the field of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, working in specialist Maxillofacial Units in a number of Melbourne hospitals before completing a Post-Graduate Diploma of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery with the University of Melbourne 2009.

Currently Dr DeAngelis is undertaking specialist training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and in the process of gaining a Medical Degree from the University of Melbourne. He is a member of the Australian Dental Association (ADA) and student member of the Australia & New Zealand (ANZAOMS) as well as International Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (IAOMS)

His professional interests include pathology, oncology, dentoalveolar surgery and implants.


Dr Paul Bowker -
Oral and Maxilofacial Surgeon

Dr Paul Bowker is an experiences Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon, having completed his post-graduate training in Melbourne and London 25 years ago. Since becoming a speciliast, Dr Bowker has been mainly involved in running a busy oral surgery practice in Melbourne.

He has also been a senior consultant at several major hospitals including the Royal Melbourne Hospital, The Western Hospital, Footscray, Preston and Northcote Community Hospital and The Prince of Wales Hospital in Sydney.

Dr Bowker has also been involved in post-graduate oral surgery training and is an examiner for the Australian Dental Council.


Mohammed, Vicky & Kate -
Hygienists

Mohammed is a registered dental hygienist who has been working at Coburg Dental Group since 2000. He completed a Diploma in Oral Health Therapy at Melbourne University. As an active member of the Dental Hygienists Association of Australia (D.H.A.A.), Mohammed has participated and completed many continuing education programs which enable him to add to his dental skills, but also to keep him up-to-date with anything new in dentistry.

Vicky is a registered dental hygienist and has a Diploma in Oral Health Therapy from the University of Melbourne. Graduating in 2002 she received both the Dental Practice Board of Victoria Prize and Dental Hygienists Association Award for 'Best Clinical Skills, with an emphasis toward patient care and management'.

She previously worked in the field of orthodontics and has been working with us at Coburg Dental Group since January 2003.

Kate graduated from the University of Melbourne with a Diploma of Oral Health Therapy.  She also has additional qualifications to work in orthodontics and perform in chair tooth whitening.  Kate has been active in the Dental Hygiene Association of Victoria since graduating.  She has held executive positions including President & Treasurer and is currently still a committee member.
Kate has always had a keen interest in dentistry and wanted to be a Dental Hygienist since the age of 11.  Outside work Kate is married to Steve and they have two sons.

Sarah, Daniela & Matthew -
Oral Health Therapist
Sarah Graduated from the University of Melbourne witha Bachelor of Oral Health Therapy in 2007. Sarah along with her classmates were the first Melbourne graduates to finish with dual qualifications in Dental Hygiene and Dental Therapy. Sarah enjoys the challenge of treating moderate/advanced periodontal disease and making an impact on improving a person' oral health.

She also loves to work with children modifying their home oral hygiene practices and aiding parents in the management of their child's health, prevantative and restorative dental needs. Previously Sarah worked as a qualified dental nurse for several years in Metroplitan and Northern suburbs of Melbourne before she furthered her education.
Daniela jpined the team in 2006 becoming the first dental therapist at Coburg Dental Group.
Since then, Daniela also qualified as an Oral Health Therapist, and worked in Queensland for two years furthering her dental experience.
She is most passionate about childrens dentistry whereby her bubbly nature provides dentalcare with a happy and friendly flair.  When not being a pink tooth fairy at Coburg Dental Group, Daniela enjoys spending time with her two puppies Stella and Coco.
Matthew graduated Latrobe University with a Bachelor of Oral Health Sciences in July 2010.  He feels that the key to maintaining good oral health is to be well informed and, if necessary, is more than happy to discuss the basics of gum disease and decay with you.
When working with kids, Matt tries to make every visit as stress free as possible.  He loves talking to kids and working toward developing healthy and practical oral health home care practices.

Dental Therapist
Sue -

 

Sue graduated as a dental therapist in 1980 and has been working Fridays here at Coburg Dental Group since early 2009.
Since graduating Sue has worked for the School Dental Service – now based in local community health centers and continues to work there Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
Sue is also involved in clinical supervision of dental therapy students for Melbourne University at the Royal Dental Hospital.
Sue is married with three children.  She has been involved in the Scouting and Guiding movements and is enjoying her commitment to the Lions Club at present.
Sue enjoys nothing more than providing a pleasurable dental experience for all who step into her dental surgery.
