What does a Dental Hygienist Do?
A dental hygienist is specifically trained to treat and maintain the condition of a persons gums. They perform regular maintenance as well as treating more advanced periodontal (gum) conditions.
After seeing one of our dentists it is recommended to see one of our five very experinced hygienists who will clean your teeth and gums and intruct you on the best way to maintain the health of your mouth. They may prescribe oral hygiene products that will be appropriate for you, including brushes, floss, mouth rinses and electric toothbrushes and instruct you how to use them appropriately to prevent decay and gum disease. As part of maintaining healthy teeth and gums regular visits to see our dental hygienist will aid in the prevention of gum disease. Your hygienist will recommed the frequency of visits but this is usually once every six months,
